Clay Sculpting - Polymer Clay Tricks and Techniques - Friday (evening) and Saturday (all day) January 17 & 18

For many years now, Cam has been modelling many of his pieces in polymer clay prior to carving them in wood. Over the years, he has developed techniques to simplify the process, making it spontaneous, easy, creative and fun. Learn the dozens of tips and techniques he uses to allow unlimited creativity that takes the guesswork out of a complex carving (or you could finish the clay sculpture as it is). With Cam's techniques, it's always possible to correct mistakes, and you can be as precise or as loose as you want. If you like carving or sculpting, you'll be hooked on the process you learn in this class.

Whether you have a specific project in mind or not, the workshop offers you the freedom to work on your own ideas. For those seeking inspiration, a small American Avocet (shorebird) sculpture is a delightful option. The process involves some basic wood carving to create the armature(s) for the initial maquette. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you can infuse personality and movement into your sculpture. The entire process is remarkably flexible and forgiving, allowing you to experiment and learn at your own pace. Polymer clay, a key medium, remains pliable indefinitely, but can be hardened by baking if desired.
